thyssenkrupp Steel joined the "Race to Zero" initiative by United Nations and committed to do everything in our power to limit global warming. Therefore we have launched bluemint® steel - our first product with reduced CO2 intensity.
The CO2 reduction method has been audited and assured by the international certifier DNV. Moreover, our approach is in line with the standards of internationally-recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Investment In Best Surface Quality
As part of bluemint® steel production, we are investing in capacities for best surface quality of premium steel sheet. Two new walking beam furnaces are scheduled to start up by 2024. The units being build are state-of-the-art in terms of fuel consumption, emissions and high-quality slab surfaces.

Climate neutral by 2045 - Steel production of the future
We have set ourselves clear targets in terms of #ClimateProtection: By 2045, we want to produce our #steel completely climate-neutral. We already produce bluemint® pure and bluemint® recycled steel with reduced CO2 intensity - while maintaining the same high quality.
