It is in times like what we are all facing now, that people can go above and beyond.

We have set up tkHero’s to recognise the achievement of the few, who have shown exceptional motivation and commitment.

Ian Thompson – Design Engineer

Ian Thompson - Design Engineer

Ian has been working day and night using our 3D printer to make face shield parts so they can be combined with the plastic faceguard and given to Keyworkers and the NHS.

He has also designed and printed face mask clips which allow our shop floor workers to wear the mask without the straps rubbing their ears and causing further discomfort.

Albert Moore – Operations Manager

Albert Moore – Operations Manager

Albert and his son Jonathon have volunteered to utilise their CO2 laser cutter to make life-saving face shields. Albert has set himself a goal of 2000 face shields and will be giving them out free of charge to all keyworkers that need them.

Carl Beckett – Group Head of Health and Safety

Carl Beckett – Group Head of Health and Safety

Carl as Group Head of Health and Safety has the massive challenge of keeping all 600 employees safe during the pandemic. This challenge though, he has taken on.

He has been coordinating advice from the WHO, UK Government and other recommended sources, and then making it useful and practical for use in thyssenkrupp UK.

Steve Murray – Operations and Logistics Director

Steve Murray – Operations and Logistics Director

There would be no need to cut and pick the material if we couldn’t deliver it to the customer and people who need it.

Steve and his team have been making sure that the delivery schedule is communicated internally, so any further communications can be sent onwards.

He has also been making sure that deliveries are still within an acceptable timescale and keeping to the social distancing rules.

Bruce Merrison – Operative

Bruce Merrison – Operative

Bruce has been working all hours he can, to make sure all the material needs of our key customers are met. Our Key customers are providing key products to the front line NHS workers, so Bruce has stepped up to the plate keeping the flow going.

Jeff Bone - Team Leader Plate and Bar

Jeff Bone - Team Leader Plate and Bar

As well as looking after his 2 young sons and supporting his wife who is currently working long hours as a critical care nurse, even with reduced staffing levels Jeff has helped keep the saws running and orders going out, many of which are to be used in manufacturing of medical equipment.

Thank you Jeff. #STRONGTOGETHER
