Aluminium Angle
Aluminium angle is just one of the many forms of aluminium stocked by thyssenkrupp. It is a very popular product and is used in most industries including construction, automotive, body building, lighting and general fabrication to name a few. It is manufactured by extruding aluminium billet through a die to the required shape and can be made as small as 1/2” wide up to 6” with wall thicknesses from 1/16” to 1/2” thick.
One of the leading suppliers across the UK
We carry a vast range of aluminium angle in grades 6082 and 6063 in various sizes and we also have access to other sizes from our warehouses in Europe, so depending on the application whether it be decorative or structural, we have a full range to suit.
Aluminium angles demonstrate the following characteristics:
Good weldability
Moderate machining and grinding capabilities
Bad bending and forming capabilities
Moderate wear resistance
Several aluminium alloys are used to manufacture angles, including:
6061-T6 – This aluminium alloy is versatile and strong. It is extremely resistant to corrosion and contains magnesium and silicon. It expresses high weldability and formability. It is the most popularly used material for structural components that prioritise strength and stability. 6061 aluminium angles feature rounded corners.
6063 – This aluminium strain also contains magnesium and silicone but is moderately strong. It is most popularly used in manufacturing projects where corrosion resistance of finish treatment are crucial. 6063 aluminium angles have sharp radius corners instead of rounded corners like 6061 aluminium angles.
Aluminium angles feature in a wide range of structure applications including:
Safety cages
Trailers
Farming equipment
Scaffolding
Ship and building equipment
Walkways
Transmission towers
The application of the aluminium wedges depends on the type of alloy used. 6061 aluminium wedges feature in more high strength applications while 6063 aluminium wedges feature in applications like shelving, appliances and machine parts.
Aluminium angle is produced and stocked in a mill finish but it can easily be painted or anodised to give either better corrosion resistance or a more aesthetic finish. Although we do not carry stock in any finish other than mill, we have the facilities to supply a decorative finished product if required.
In addition to being able to supply stock sizes, our in house aluminium fabrication facility can also offer cutting, drilling, machining and welding. Our welders are qualified to EN1090-1:2009+A1:2011 Class 2 ensuring a high standard of quality from all fabricated structures.
